Classic Fresh Margarita

This recipe is inspired by our favorite taco joint, bartaco. Their margaritas are fresh and strong, with the perfect amount of sweetness. Just the way I like it. Their margaritas are a little on the pricey side so I decided to make this copycat version at home.

Some things to note when making this recipe: It's important to use fresh lime juice and using orange liquor instead of triple sec makes a big difference. Also, I like to use agave syrup because it has a better flavor but you can substitute simple syrup. To make simple syrup, simply 😁 combine equal parts water and sugar and heat over low heat in small sauce pan until combined and sugar is dissolved then let cool before adding to cocktails.

Ingredients:

  • 3 oz tequila

  • 2 oz orange liqueur such as Cointreau or Grand Marnier

  • 2 heaping tsp agave syrup

  • 3 oz water

  • 3 oz fresh squeezed lime juice

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients into cocktail shaker and shake

  2. Pour over two salt rim glasses filled with ice

  3. Garnish with a lime and enjoy!
